Many of you reading this blog post may know I am very involved in numerous organizations outside of my business and one of those duties is being the treasurer of the South Bay Business Women’s Association. The SBBWA sponsors the South Bay Women’s Conference held the Friday before Mother’s Day each year, and this year’s event was held just a few days ago.

As the financial chair of the conference (and corporate sponsor), I was involved in most of the planning and day-of work and loved to see how wonderfully it turned out. This year we had two keynote speakers (Teri Haack – general manager of Terranea Resort located here in the South Bay and Mallika Chopra – media entrepreneur, public speaker, and author), a panel discussing brains/beauty/brawn, and 4 breakout sessions.

We sold out the 300 tickets and offered a live stream of most of the event for those who couldn’t attend in person. I heard comments from attendees who said what a powerful day it was for them. It was a bonus to see the scholarship winners who will benefit from us holding this event. The main reason the South ay Business Women’s Association hosts this conference is to raise money to give scholarships to women pursuing higher education.

I want to publicly thank all those who supported this event from the volunteers to the vendors, to the sponsors, to those who purchased tickets to attend. We couldn’t have had the successful day we had without all of you!

We’d love to have you participate next year! Save the date of May 5, 2017, and plan on joining us here in sunny Southern California. The conference is always inspiring, and you’ll meet fabulous women whether entrepreneurs, involved in non-profit organizations, or corporate employees. I hope to see you there!
