Getting started

Fit, pricing, timing, and what happens before work begins.

What kind of business is the best fit for AB&P?

AB&P is built for growing and established businesses that have outgrown doing everything themselves. The strongest fit values accurate work, responsive communication, and a long-term relationship—and is ready to provide the information the team needs to keep things moving.

How do I know it is time to outsource?

Common signs include books that keep falling behind, evenings spent catching up, payroll becoming more complicated, uncertainty about recurring deadlines, or growth creating obligations you did not know to watch. If the back office is limiting your time or confidence, it is worth a conversation.

What happens when I first reach out?

The process starts with a conversation about the business, what is currently being handled, and what you want off your plate. If the fit looks right, the team reviews the details, recommends a scope, and creates a realistic transition plan.

How does pricing work?

Bookkeeping and consulting are scoped around the actual work involved. Payroll uses transparent monthly pricing rather than per-run billing, with no per-W-2 fees or hidden add-ons. You receive a recommended scope after the team understands the business and its requirements.

How quickly can services begin?

Timing depends on the scope, the condition of the current records, access to the necessary systems, and any approaching payroll or filing deadlines. AB&P will not pretend to learn the business in fifteen minutes; the team will give you a practical start and transition plan after reviewing the details.

What information will I need to provide?

The exact checklist depends on the services involved, but it may include access to accounting and payroll systems, bank and credit-card statements, loan information, prior filings, employee details, and current procedures. The team provides a focused request list once the scope is clear.

Bookkeeping and reporting

What can be handled, how reporting works, and where tax preparation begins and ends.

What can monthly bookkeeping include?

A bookkeeping scope may include transaction categorization, recording checks and expenses, accounts receivable and payable tracking, bank and credit-card reconciliations, loan reconciliations, monthly financial reports, sales-tax filings, annual 1099s, and unsecured property-tax statements.

Can you clean up books that are behind or incorrect?

Yes, the first step is assessing what is incomplete or inconsistent. Cleanup work and ongoing bookkeeping may be staged separately so the team can correct the foundation before establishing a dependable monthly rhythm.

Can you help with accounts receivable and accounts payable?

Receivables and payables tracking can be included. The exact workflow—what AB&P manages, what stays with your internal team, and which approvals are required—is defined during scoping.

What reports will I receive?

Monthly financial reporting is part of the bookkeeping services AB&P offers. The goal is not simply to send another spreadsheet; it is to keep the underlying records current and make the reports understandable enough to support real decisions.

Can AB&P handle sales tax, 1099s, and property statements?

Depending on scope and jurisdiction, AB&P can file sales-tax prepayments and returns, prepare annual 1099 forms, and prepare unsecured property-tax statements. The team confirms the applicable requirements before work begins.

Do you prepare income-tax returns?

No. AB&P does not prepare income-tax returns. The team keeps your books organized and tax-ready so your CPA or tax preparer has reliable records to work from. Payroll-tax reporting and sales-tax filings are separate services that may be included in scope.

Will I need to change accounting software?

Not automatically. The team reviews the current setup, how information moves through the business, and what the work requires. If a change would make the process more reliable, it will be discussed as part of the transition plan.

FAQ category

Payroll

Processing, tax payments, changing requirements, and the way payroll is billed.

What does full-service payroll include?

Payroll services can include customized processing, employee direct deposit, state and federal payroll-tax reporting, quarterly filings, year-end reporting, and ongoing support from an experienced team.

How are payroll-tax funds handled?

AB&P enrolls the business directly with the appropriate tax agencies so taxes can move from your bank to the agencies when they are due. Funds are not debited months ahead simply to be held by a payroll provider.

Do you charge per payroll run or per W-2?

Payroll is billed monthly rather than per payroll run. AB&P does not charge a separate per-W-2 fee, and the pricing is designed to avoid hidden miscellaneous charges.

Can you help when employees work in different states?

Multi-state employment can create registration, withholding, unemployment-insurance, and filing requirements. AB&P can evaluate the payroll setup and recurring work involved, then confirm whether the business and jurisdictions are a fit for service.

Can you tell me whether someone is an employee or a contractor?

AB&P can flag the payroll and reporting implications of the setup, but worker classification can involve legal and tax judgments. When needed, the team may recommend confirming the decision with your attorney or tax professional before payroll is implemented.

What if our payroll needs change as we grow?

Hiring, adding locations, entering new states, and changing pay structures can create new responsibilities. The team reviews changes before they become part of the recurring payroll process and updates the workflow when the scope changes.

FAQ category

Working together and consulting

Your team, communication, remote service, and support beyond recurring bookkeeping.

Will I work with a real person?

Yes. AB&P is a team of account specialists, payroll specialists, and client-support professionals. The right people are assigned after the scope and needs are understood, so you know where questions should go and who is responsible for the work.

Will the same person always handle my account?

AB&P aims for consistency and relationship continuity, but no responsible company can promise that staffing will never change. Documented workflows and team support help protect the account when someone is unavailable, changes roles, or eventually retires.

Can you work with businesses outside your local area?

AB&P operates as a remote team and can work with businesses in different locations. Because payroll and sales-tax requirements vary by state and situation, geographic fit is confirmed during the initial assessment.

What does business consulting cover?

Consulting may include identifying cash-flow leaks, exploring profitability improvements, aligning decisions with business goals, improving recurring processes, and reducing owner dependence. Recommendations are shaped around the business rather than sold as a generic package.

Is consulting the same as legal, investment, or tax advice?

No. Consulting focuses on financial visibility, profitability, operations, and decision support. AB&P coordinates with your attorney, CPA, tax preparer, or other licensed advisers when a decision requires expertise outside that scope.

How will we communicate once work begins?

Communication expectations and points of contact are established during onboarding. The goal is a clear path for questions, requests, approvals, and recurring information—not a maze of anonymous support tickets.
