I love to support my local small businesses, don't you? I know that in some cases we need large corporations to have efficient services (such as telecommunications), but I try to patronize area entrepreneurs when I can. Today I want to highlight one that in the last few months, I've supported called "I Wanna Go Explore" where fun adventures are planned in the surrounding areas.
I met the owner Linda Buffington about 5 years ago. She is a representative for Juice Plus and I decided to try their supplements which are whole food capsules to help give the nutrients we lack in our diets. Over time, we've seen each other at networking events learned more about each other, and developed what I'd call a business friendship. Then a year and a half ago I joined an organization of which she is currently President (and I'm now treasurer) which has increased our interactions even more.
When I saw information on a new endeavor she was starting a few months ago, I was interested. She was planning outings at local places and they looked like fun! As many entrepreneurs do, I work long hours and don't always take a lot of time out for relaxation. I decided to sign up for her first adventure which was hydro-biking. It was so enjoyable! My husband and I shared a double bike and talked while we pedaled down the canal at sunset. The whole group talked about how unique of a ride it was.
Since that day, I have joined her for a musical at a small theater, a movie in the park, and a Hollywood scavenger hunt. For the musical and movie night, Linda provided healthy snacks for us to enjoy (we had appetizers and beverages prior to driving to the theater, and she brought all the food to the picnic in the park). For the Hollywood adventure, we were given clues and had to find the answers at iconic locations up and down Hollywood Blvd.
