It’s that time again! Networking Matters is hosting a business mixer with proceeds benefitting local charities. This is the fourth event we’ve hosted, and we are looking forward to another great evening. This year’s event will be held at the newly renovated Manhattan Country Club on February 20th at 6:00pm. Networking Matters began when a few of us in business decided to plan a networking event that would give back to the community. Each event has been successful, and this year should be great too! The two charities benefitting this year are:
The Peninsula Seniors Quality of Life Scholarship Fund promotes higher education that enhances the quality of life with special focus on retirees and people in their advanced years. Each year the Peninsula Seniors Selection Committee offers scholarships to students attending Long Beach State University who are getting their degree in gerontology. The scholarship recipients’ education efforts will positively affect seniors of the next generation.
The mission of Toberman Neighborhood Center is to assist families and individuals by delivering life-changing services that encourage, inform, educate, and empower them to live healthy and purposeful lives. They have three core programs which are the keys to unlocking the cycles of poverty and violence: Family Source (referral/support to increase income), Children, Youth and Families (youth after school / enrichment / parent engagement) and our Gang Intervention Program (dispute mediation, community building, case management). These programs assist underserved, at-risk youth and their families by giving them new skills and opportunities to build a better future.
I’m hoping you’ll help in one or more of the following ways:
- Attend the event as a guest. Tickets are now on sale at http://lanetworkingmatters.com/buy_tickets_networkheartout.html
- Donate a raffle item
- Be a corporate sponsor (levels start as low as $300)
- Share this information with others who you know would like to participate
I’m sure you’ve attended lots of businss mixers, but this one will will make a lasting impact on our community. Last year we were able to donate almost $13,000. We’re hoping to donate even more this year. We can’t do that without lots of help. Please be one of the people who helps us make it a success.

I hope to see you there!
