Are you a business owner using your computer to do your tasks for yourself and clients? Do you use one browser for every website you visit? I’m not a technology expert, but I do know that it’s ideal to use more than one browser when using the computer.

It is important now more than ever to make sure every business step you take is efficient and secure. One of the simple ways you can do this is to use multiple web browsers. This may seem like an insignificant suggestion, but in implementing this simple step, you will have an added layer of protection.

Ideally, you’ll use one browser for personal surfing and one (or more) for business. First, you want to decide which browser you prefer. Once you have decided your favored one, determine what that one will be used for. You can add a second browser to your taskbar and use different sites on that one. You can then sign into each browser, one for business purposes and and one for your personal navigation. But you may find that you will want more than one for either business or personal.

For instance, in my business, I use QuickBooks online for some clients. Periodically, that site had login issues and I was told I had to clear the cache to be able to get it to work again. But if I did that, I lost all the recognized logins I used which would cause issues when I needed to log into bank or credit card accounts or other websites I used for client work. So I set up a different browser for this site only. If I have to clear the cache, it doesn’t affect anything else.

Using different browsers can help you to keep personal and business tasks separate, especially if you work from home. The lines between personal and business becomes easy to blur and may cause inefficiency in your work life, or on the opposite side, make it hard to end your workday when you “clock out”. Having separate browsers that utilize their respective bookmarks, extensions, and are signed into their own emails can save you more time and provide a healthy division in your life.
