Later this month I will have the opportunity to sail with some members of Leads Club, a networking group I have been a member of since 2006.  This group has been one of the reasons for my business success because referrals come from business professionals who know me, like me and trust me to serve their friends, family and clients.  I also currently hold the position of Chapter Consultant which is the liaison between the local chapter and the headquarters of the organization.  With this responsibility comes the duty of attending a meeting twice a year to discuss upcoming events, promotions, etc.

During the meeting last December, the President of Leads Club announced they were going to be doing a networking cruise which they’ve done in the past quite a few times, although it had been quite a few years since the last one.  She mentioned that they would be looking for speakers to present during workshops on the day at sea.  I had just committed a few weeks prior to my business coach that I was going to speak 10 times in 2013 to educate business owners on topics I had the desire to share.  I was amazed that this opportunity appeared so quickly after my commitment.  I thought about it for a few weeks wondering if I should offer to speak, but finally realized this opportunity had presented itself to me and I was excited I had the chance to speak and enjoy some time on a cruise.

I don’t know about you, but I love cruises.  As a wife and mother, many of our “vacations” are just trips to another location where I still cook and clean to take care of the family.  On a cruise, you don’t have to do any of that, so it is ideal for me.  Having the opportunity to get away from the regular routine, meet others through networking opportunities, and share my expertise is something I couldn’t pass up.  I can’t wait to meet new people, give them information on “Mistakes Business Owners Make and How to Avoid Them” and have fun with one of my good friends in business who is also going on the cruise and teaching on many aspects of social media and how to use it in your business.

It’s unusual for me to be out of the office for extended periods of time, but my staff is amazing and I know they will do a good job keeping the office running smoothly while I am gone!  Thanks Jessica, Siyta, Justin and Sarah.  I couldn’t go on this trip without you on my team!
