Are you an employer with workers who may need to take time off due to exposure to the Coronavirus, needing immunizations, or having to care for family members?
The Families First Coronavirus Response Act was passed in March of 2020, which allowed employers to pay up to two weeks of wages for employees who were exposed or dealing with the illness of family members who had to care for other family in their home.
Based on the wages paid, tt was either two thirds of their compensation or the full amount of their compensation, depending on the reason that they were staying home.
But that had expired originally as of December 31st, 2020. However, this has now been extended through September, 2021.
You may now offer the FFCRA for wages paid from April 1st, 2021 through September 30th, 2021. And there are now additional reasons for compensation which include the need for immunizations or recovering after having had the immunizations, or waiting for a diagnosis.
This is not mandatory coverage, but you are allowed to offer it if you so choose. And you may still take the credits available to you as an employer by offering this compensation.
Finally, the wage cap has increased from $10,000 to 12,000. If you have questions, feel free to reach out to us www.abandp.com, (310) 534-5577, or [email protected].
