This past weekend, I spent some time with one of my clients I’ll refer to as Mrs. P. She lives alone and has no family in the area. Due to poor sight, she can no longer drive, so she is housebound much of the time. Periodically we’ll go to grab a bite to eat and chat about life. On one of those occasions, I learned she loves blueberries. On my next visit to her house, I brought some blueberry biscotti I had recently purchased and she loved it.
A week later, I received an invitation to a boutique where quite a few vendors I know were hosting a boutique including the one who makes the biscotti. I invited my client to go with me to sample all of her flavors and pick out the ones she liked. She sampled every flavor and chose the cranberry and blueberry to take home for treats to enjoy with her tea. After shopping, I suggested we go get some frozen yogurt (another favorite place for us to go) and we enjoyed our cool dessert while basking in the sunshine.
When I was ready to leave, Mrs. P. said what a delightful day it had been. She enjoyed getting out, finding a new favorite snack, and being around others. I enjoyed matching a client with a vendor who could provide a product she loved. The vendor (www.thebarpastry.com) has a new client, and Mrs. P has a new favorite snack. As small business owners, we help each other by sharing information with those we know about businesses that offer a product or service they need. Are you helping to promote others in business? If not, give it a try. You’ll be happy you did!
