As you may know, my local Barnes & Noble hosted a book talk/signing event for me and a friend who are co-authors of Business Success With Ease: Top Experts Share Strategies for Accelerated Growth. This event came about because of my local chamber. The Torrance Chamber hosts “Net at Noon” events where the members get together for lunch, networking, and self-introductions. I had not been able to attend one of these events for a while due to our extremely busy workload the beginning of the year. However, although my schedule was quite full, I attended one in March. At this particular meeting, we were told to this time mention a need we had in our business. As each shared, we could note anyone in the group we could assist (through our own business, or resources we could recommend). I had brought our newly released book and mentioned that I was looking for the opportunity to share this information and asked for help getting the word out about the book. At the end of the meeting, someone who’d I’d never met nor seen at a prior event came up to me and said he was the community relations manager of Barnes & Noble and they could host a book signing. I was thrilled!
I contacted my friend Bibi and asked if she’d like to join me since she is also a co-author and is located in the South Bay as well. She was also excited for the opportunity. You can see by our smiles in the photo that we had fun! It was exciting to see friends, clients and business associates there to support us. We had the chance to tell a little bit about how we got into our businesses, why we wrote our chapters, and how that information can help business owners. I had a lot of great feedback from those in attendance. It was an all around fun afternoon.
