As you probably know, as an employer, you must post in a conspicuous place labor law posters for both the federal and state requirements. Failure to do so can result in penalties. One of the mandated posters is the Equal Employment Opportunity is the Law. Failing to post this item has just become more expensive with the penalty increasing from $210 to $525 for each offense.
More severe ramifications for failing to comply with the posting requirement include defending against an EEOC charge. Failing to have the document posted may strengthen the employee’s complaint and/or expose your company to additional damages.
To avoid this penalty, print and hang the Equal Employment Opportunity is the Law poster in your workplace where applicants and employees can easily see it. The poster can be downloaded from https://www.eeoc.gov/employers/upload/eeoc_self_print_poster.pdf.
Keep in mind that there are other posters that need to be displayed as well, so I recommend contacting your local Chamber of Commerce. Many of them have posters available for purchase which would cover all mandatory state and federal filings.
Protect yourself and your business by displaying all mandatory labor law posters. Failing to do so can be a costly mistake.
