I have been a reader of Today’s Innovative Woman since it first published a few years ago. I knew the publisher through business and wanted to support her, and I found the magazine had amazing content. This is also the magazine that honored me with the opportunity to be a finalist for Service Business of the Year (2012) and winner of Entrepreneur Mom of the Year (2011) awards.
A month or so ago I heard about an opportunity to be a writer for the magazine’s website and I was interested, but a little bit scared to pursue the opportunity as it is out of my comfort zone. It took me a long time to finally start a blog, and an even longer time to put out a monthly newsletter with helpful tips regarding bookkeeping, payroll, sales tax, and other issues. Did I really want to commit to writing for a magazine that is national? I wondered if my content would be interesting enough (how many people really find numbers facinating?) But a few people encouraged me and said what I had to share was important and others would find it helpful, so I took the plunge.
I’m now going to be writing for Today’s Innovative Woman and publishing four articles a month to the website. I am actually getting more excited and less scared aboout stepping out in this way. Why do I share this with you? Because we all have fears at some point in regard to an aspect of our business, and it’s worth it to be courageous and do it even in the midst of the fear. I’m thankful I have some women who are there to cheer me on, and I can do the same for them. If you are in the same boat, I encourage you to find a mentor, coach, or friend who will be there to support you and share in your success!
Hurray to getting out of my comfort zone!
