I am very lucky to provide bookkeeping, sales tax and payroll services to small business owners. I enjoy giving them peace of mind knowing the are in compliance with their filings and that they have more free time to do what they love because of our assistance. But I also love the fact that we get to know our clients on a more personal level as well. This allows us to build relationships that are more meaningful than just a client/vendor association where we provide a needed service and that is all.
I enjoy using many of my clients’ services and recommending them to others. This shows them I truly care about them and the success of their businesses as well. When I know they provide an excellent service, I want to share that with others I know. Do you do the same?
I think it’s important for us to do this for each other. Why?
- Many of us are small and are not well known. Telling others about the services you receive from them will allow them to be educated about businesses that they may not have heard of before who can meet their needs. Most small businesses depend on word of mouth referrals as their marketing budget is not very high.
- When a business is referred by someone you know, like and trust, it is more likely that their services will be used by you because it has been recommended.
- It helps to build community. If someone is referring you to people who need your service, it strengthens your relationship and you want to do the same for them. You want to help them grow their business by telling others about the services they offer.
When you hear someone mention a need they have, think about who you know who could help them and give a referral. I bet they (and the business you refer) will appreciate it!
If you are ever in need of a service, feel free to contact me to see who I know that I trust. If I don’t know someone in that particular industry, I bet someone I trust knows someone. Let’s support each other.
