Last week I took part in a training with local Girl Scout troops to teach them about entrepreneurship. 115 girls signed up to participate. I heard about this event through a business friend who was looking for mentors to assist them in getting their badges for entrepreneurship and business planning. Pictured are many of the mentors who came out to help that day.
I was also part of a 5 personal panel where we talked about how we started on our path of entrepreneurship, the challenges we faced, and how we came up with the funds to start and maintain our businesses, and the girls asked us additional questions.
After lunch, the girls met with us to determine their one business idea, what was the product/service they were going to offer, determine who the customers were, how to reach them, and how they would be environmentally and socially responsible. Each group then presented their ideas to the other groups, and mentors would give feedback on their presentation.
It was fun to see the girls come together, share ideas, and formulate their plans. I’m glad I was asked to participate, and I think the girls all had a fabulous time learning a little about what it takes to start a business.
